A detailed introduction to silicon Bronze

Brass with silicon as the key element. In addition to silicon, the silicon bronze used in industrial production also contains a small amount of manganese, nickel, zinc or other elements. Silicon is tempered by limited heat treatment in copper, and its greater solubility reaches 5.3% at 852℃, which decreases with the decrease of temperature. However, the time-sensitive hardening effect is not strong, and the enhanced conditioning treatment is generally not carried out. The silicon content of deformed silicon bronze is 1%-4%, and ductile phase will appear when silicon is increased, which reduces plastic deformation. Silicon bronze has a smaller crystal temperature range, sufficient liquidity and higher physical properties than tin bronze, so it can be used as a substitute for tin bronze in machinery and equipment manufacturing industry.

Silicon bronze component

QSi3.5-3-1.5 Silicon bronze: QSi3.5-3-1.5 is a silicon bronze with zinc, manganese, iron and other elements. It has the same characteristics as QSi3-1, but it has good temperature resistance and less selectivity of self-cracking when storing rods and cables. QSi3.5-3-1.5 is the key material for coupling working at high temperature.

QSi3.5-3-1.5 Ingredients: Antimony (Sb) ≤0.002, Iron (Fe) 1.2 ~ 1.8, Nickel (Ni) ≤0.2, Silicon (Si) 3.0 ~ 4.0, Tin (Sn) ≤0.25, Lead (Pb) ≤0.03, copper (Cu) capacity, zinc (Zn) 2.5 ~ 3.5, manganese (Mn) 0.5 ~ 0.9, Phosphorus (P) ≤0.03, Arsenic (As) ≤0.002, total residue ≤1.1%

Organic chemical properties

The silicon bronze rod has strong corrosion resistance to air, water vapor, water and sea surface, because its surface will produce a layer of high density and firm fluoride film, but their water flow can not exceed 1.5m, otherwise, the air oxide film will suffer damage, loss of maintenance. If the temperature exceeds 60℃ or the water contains CO2 and oxygen, the corrosion rate is accelerated.

The silicon bronze rod has high corrosion resistance to low concentration and low temperature alkali solution. However, with the increase of temperature or concentration, the corrosion rate will increase. Acidic water containing Fe2 (SO4) 3 will cause obvious corrosion to the silicon bronze rod, because Fe2 (SO4) 3 has negative depolarization effect. Chromate, ferric chloride solution and concentrated zinc chloride solution will obviously corrode the silicon bronze rod. Dry and volatile chlorine, Australia, hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, ammonia and carbon tetrachloride, etc., do not corrode the silicon bronze rod. If there is water vapor in it, the silicon bronze rod will be deposited. Acetylene gas, ammonium hydroxide, ammonium chloride, chromic acid, ferric chloride, ferric sulfate, mercury, mercury salt, sodium cyanide, potassium cyanide, sodium hydride, potassium dichromate, silver salt, sodium hydroxide, melted sulfur, cyanic acid are all corroded silicon bronze rods. There are two types of deformed silicon bronze included in China's national industry standard

Influencing factor

The physical properties, corrosion resistance and service performance can be improved by adding proper amount of manganese to Cu Si Al alloy. Often used is silicon bronze QSi3-1 containing 3% silicon and 1% manganese, high temperature for single-phase alpha solid solution, refrigeration to 450℃ below, a small amount of chemical Mn2Si or MnSi dissolved, but strengthening the actual effect is weak, generally in the case of hardening or cold hardening application. QSi3-1 welding heat treatment bar material is prone to spontaneous cracking in the whole process of storage due to the change of ground stress, so the finished product should be quenched at ultra-low temperature, and the silicon component of aluminum alloy should be kept at a low limit. QSi3-1 silicon bronze can be in cold and hot working pressure production and processing, structural mechanics, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and welding characteristics of good, no magnetic impact, no fire, in machinery and equipment, chemical plants, crude oil, ships and other industrial sectors are widely used.

Nickel can improve the physical properties and corrosion resistance of silicon bronze, and has excellent REDOX potential. Nickel and silicon produce Ni2Si, a chemical capable of fixing and dissolving copper, which has a greater solubility of 9.0% at eutectic temperature (1025℃) and decreases with decreasing temperature to essentially zero in the chamber. The copper alloy with Ni/Si ratio of 4:1 will be strengthened by Ni2Si phase settling during cold working, and excellent comprehensive energy is obtained. The common silicon bronze QSi1-3 containing 1% silicon and 3% nickel in industrial production has excellent plastic deformation after heat treatment at 900 ~ 950℃. After cold working at 350 ~ 550℃ for 1 ~ 4h, the compressive strength can be increased by more than 1 times. This kind of aluminum alloy has high wear resistance and high temperature compressive strength. Its REDOX potential is also higher than the general high toughness alloy copper. Therefore, in mechanical engineering and other units to produce and manufacture key parts, but also for communication high toughness overhead cable and electrical conductivity pole. Lead, antimony, bismuth, arsenic, sulfur, phosphorus and other elements harm aluminum alloy, should be strictly controlled.
