The gas absorption of melt can be reduced or even avoided by using dry charge or even preheating charge before melting. Old materials severely contaminated by some impurity elements can be improved by solvent or inert gas refining, including remelting treatment. The appropriate proportion of new metal and process used material is also conducive to not disorderly melt quality. In the smelting of tin and zinc bronze, because of the lower boiling point of zinc and the greater affinity of oxygen, the melt should be deoxidized and then dissolved in the furnace. In this way, the zinc can be added to deoxidize, which is more helpful to avoid the risk of SnO2 production. Zirconium is also an option for a similar additive.

The harmful impurities in tin bronze are aluminum, silicon and magnesium. When their content exceeds 0.005%, the resulting SiO2, MgO and Al2O3 oxide inclusions can contaminate the solution and reduce the performance of some aspects of the alloy. Adding an appropriate amount of nickel into the melt is beneficial to accelerate the solidification and crystallization of the melt, and to reduce and avoid segregation. As a result of the comprehensive deoxidation of zinc and phosphorus in the melt, the 2ZNo.P2O5 produced is more easily separated from the melt and is beneficial to improve the activity of the melt.

Smelting process of tin bronze. In continuous forging, it is appropriate to control the temperature above the liquidus of the alloy. The amount of used materials in the process should not exceed 20%~30%. A melt slightly contaminated with impurities can be oxidized by blowing into air or by the addition of an oxidant such as CuO.

Smelting characteristics of tin bronze. The appropriate feeding and melting sequence, including the smelting of the mining equipment with the function of strongly stirring the melt and the power frequency of the iron core induction furnace, are beneficial to reduce and avoid the occurrence of segregation. It is possible to melt copper and lead separately and then inject the lead melt into the copper melt at a temperature, without using solvent. The capping agent used in smelting tin bronze containing zinc should also include charcoal and other materials containing carbon.
