Introduction
Copper beryllium alloys are based primarily on copper with beryllium added. High-strength beryllium-copper alloys contain 0.4-2% beryllium and about 0.3-2.7% other alloying elements, such as nickel, cobalt, iron, or lead. High mechanical strength is achieved by precipitation hardening or aging hardening.
Beryllium copper is a copper alloy with the best combination of mechanical and physical properties, such as tensile strength, fatigue strength, high temperature properties, electrical conductivity, flexural formability, and corrosion resistance. Beryllium copper is widely used as contact springs in connectors, switches, relays and other applications.
